Koharu notices that Talia looks a little down. She asks her whats wrong and finds out that Talia is missing her real life more. Some smells, weather, and the sight of seeing an NPC mother and child bought these feelings on. Koharu wants to help her friend to feel better, so she goes to the others, private messaging them about a quest for their friend..

It was an average day in Aincrad. The seventh floor had just been cleared. People were shambling through the snow on floor seven to get to the warm NPC town. Players were talking about information they’ve gathered about the new area, what they think the boss would be, and which places were good to grind…

In the pub of the NPC town sat one of the front runners of the boss battles. A sword user called Talia. She was a tall young woman, barely eighteen in the real world. She is always the first one to help others, but also the first one to refuse a good drop if she happens to be in a party with others. She never got in parties that often, unless it was to beat the floor boss. She was mainly seen around one other player. A young woman called Koharu. Her first friend here in SAO, and someone she promised to help beat the game with.

However, today this frontrunner wasn’t doing much. Right now, it seemed she was moping a bit. The ears on her avatar, an addition she got in the game after the first month because it was cute, were down as well.

“….” She sighed, looking down at her drink.

“Talia??” Koharu’s voice made her look up. “Are you ok?? Argo said you’ve been in here all day..” Her friend sat beside her, shaking her head at the NPC bartenders question for what will she have.

“I…” Talia thought about lying for a moment, saying she was sick but most ailments in the game could be cured by a debuff potion or antidote. “no. I just.. I was out this morning and saw an NPC child with their mom. It made me start thinking of my mom..”

“Oh..”Koharu said. Talia never spoke of her real life before. Koharu had to admit she was curious, but she had never wanted to pry. “…What’s your mom like??” She asked, her voice soft.

“She’s a really kind woman. Always willing to help however she can… She’s where I got it from.” A weak attempt at a joke, “…This floor just made me think of her too.. When I was little, whenever it was cold, she would make something called potato soup. It had potatoes of course, ham, bacon, onion and garlic in it… It was always something so yummy to have after playing in the snow… Then for dessert. M&M cookies…” Talia sniffled a bit, quickly wiping her eyes before any tears could fall. She couldn’t cry in front of Koharu.. “i-it’s silly, I know. Everyone wants to go home… But this is the first time it’s really hit me hard..”

Koharu listened intently. “… I see… Well.” She stood before giving Talia a quick hug. “I just remembered, I promised I’d help Argo with some information broker stuff! Do you wanna help??”

Talia gave a tired smile, “not today.. I think I’m just gonna stay here for now.. Give Argo my best!”

Koharu nodded and she left the tavern. She opened up the messaging system and selected a few people for a mass message. “Hey guys..! We have a very important quest to do..”

~~

Talia was now laying in the room she bought for the day at the inn. She was hugging the pillow and just staring at the ceiling. “ugh… I just can’t stay here all day… I should-oh.. Koharu must’ve read my mind..”she mused seeing the message appear. She opened it.

From Koharu: Talia! Come to the dining room of the inn! : D

Talia quirked an eyebrow. She shrugged, “maybe she got a neat drop…” she said as she stood and put on her armor. She rather liked this Violet armor. It fit well, and kept in heat. She then opened the door to walk down to the dining room of the inn.

When she opened the door to the dining room, a bunch of familiar smells met her. She saw Koharu with Kirito, Asuna, Argo, Agil, Lizbeth, even Kibaou standing at the end of the table. There was a pot of.. something, and a plate of cookies??

“W-what??” Talia blinked, looking confused.

“Koharu told us you were feeling bad and reminiscing about the real world.” Asuna said. “She also mentioned the foods your mother would make.. So, we decided to try and recreate them!”

“It took me forever to find chocolate candies, so you better appreciate them.” Kibaou huffed, crossing his arms.

Agil put his hand on Kibaou’s shoulder, “We had to do quite a few quests before we found out about the NPC that gave these.. It was a child NPC, so Kibaou is a little miffed by that..”he laughed.

“Kid NPC’s normally don’t give quests!”Kibaou huffed.

“Lizbeth and I got the meats.” Kirito chuckled, “The boars on the first floor gave us more than enough.”

Lizbeth nodded, “They were easy~!”

“And then Koharu and Argo helped me to make it all.” Asuna smiled, going over to give Talia a hug, “It may not be like your mothers, but we all hope you enjoy it, Talia.”

Talia froze as she looked at the food. She felt tears prick her eyes. “Y-you guys di-didn’t have too..”

“nyahah~ we couldn’t let you stay moping in here could we~?” Argo tittered, “’Sides, you’ve been one of the people turning the tides for us, we should do something for you hm~?”

“They’re right, Talia.” Koharu smiled a bit, taking one of Talia’s hands as Asuna took the other to take her to the end of the table with the food, “You’ve done so much for us all, we want to return the favor.”

Talia felt tears run down her cheeks, “Y-you guys..!!”

“Bah, enough tears! The food’s getting’ cold!” Kibaou said. “Eat up, you get first bowl of this soup!”

Talia smiled a bit, “R-right… Thank you everyone.. Let’s eat!”

Help my students focus!

I know a lot of you here see this and you’re just ‘hey that’s a fidget toy’

and while a lot of people may use it as a toy, there is no denying that it can be helpful for some students.

I believe it would be helpful for my class that I’m interning with right now. Whenever I walk around with my own fidget cube toy, and they ask to see it, they actually are able to work with it in their hand. I know one student in the class would greatly benefit from it.

All I ask is to donate even a dollar if you can. If you cannot donate, I ask you to please share it so that others can see it.

Thank you, and have a great day.

we are a little over a third of the way there!

When people die they have to confront their personal demons. Demons like Alcoholism and all the other drug abuses are kept very busy. The line to see the demon of Procrastination is always super long. You are the demon of over-achievement. Write about a typical day.

You never really got that many people. People that did come to you, would also end up going to a substance abuse demon. That always took forever. Normally it was adults that you would receive.

But once a day mainly, you would see a human teenager before you. It was rare, but sometimes they would be even younger.

The one before you today was a short human, hair tied into a messy bun, eyes wide behind square framed glasses. She looked as if she ran on coffee and energy drinks.

“Couldn’t take the pressure anymore?” you ask, voice blunt, uncaring. You had to be in this kind of work. When the Reapers would bring souls, you couldn’t afford to get attached, even more so considering most of the souls that came to you went down due to other things that they had done while alive.

“….” The human was silent. She still looked as if she was about to cry.

Sighing you get ready to pull up her file, but then you hear her muttering under her breath.

Oh god, I shouldn’t have done this. Now I’m going to miss that deadline, and mom will be angry, and now I won’t be there to help Adrien hide from her. Oh god I messed up. I shouldn’t have done this. I shouldn’t have.”

You watched as the human slowly curled up to a ball on the ground, rocking back and forth. Her hands were over her head as if trying to shield herself from blows that would not come. She continued to rock and mutter. You blink and then look at her file.

She was a teenager, a high schooler. Always pressured by her mother to be the very best, using abuse whenever she got below an A. Her mother did it so that she could leech off her daughter’s success when she grew older. The poor girl before you had a horrible home life, yet she was kind. Even when her own stomach would be growling, she would give her food to her little brother, when she was ready to pass out, she’d be there to help him with his own homework and take care of him.

She was more of a mother to her brother than their actual mother.

“…” You look at the file to find her name. “Leslie.”

She didn’t look up until you said her name for a second time. Tears were running down her cheeks.

“You won’t be going down. You’ll be going to a place where you don’t have to worry about being the best. You’ll be able to relax. To be happy.” You said, reading over the last bit in her file. “You’ll be free from all the worry of your earthly life.”

“b-bu-bu-but what a-a-ab-about–?” she was going to ask about her brother. You expected that. She was more worried about him than anything else, that was obvious from when she started having her breakdown.

You really weren’t allowed to read other souls files unless they were brought to you, but you figured this was a special case. “He will end up being taken out of your mothers’ home by social services after the school investigates why you aren’t coming to school. They will see the abuse, and they will take him out. He will end up in a loving family that will nurture him and help him grow to be a kind and loving person. He will end up starting a foundation for youths and others who had your experience growing up.” You read the file, looking back down at Leslie. “He will be a good man, you did well.”

She still had tears going down her cheeks, but you could see the smiles coming through.

“Are you ready?” you ask.

She nods, wiping her eyes on the palm of her hands, but tears still flowed. “Thank you.”

You shrug. “You didn’t have much to overcome with me, it seems like you’ve already done that anyway. Go on, “you press a button on your desk, a door opens beside her. You can see the light coming through it. “go relax kid. You’ve earned it.”

Leslie looked at you, an uncertain look still on her face. But slowly she nodded and walked through.

You smiled a bit, hitting the button to shut the door.

Then the next soul came in. “Why the hell am I here?! I did everything I needed to! I was at the top of the company until that bastard brother of mine came in and killed me! I earned it! It was mine!”

You sigh and press a button on your phone. “Could you send over a greed demon? I’m gonna need some help with this one.”

Another day, another soul.

They’re back

Idea: the Jims free the Distict attourney, they are now a being of light despite being trapped in the dark for so long.

That doesn’t mean they aren’t angry however.

Dark never paid much attention to the Jims. They ran around, calling everyone ‘Jim’ and doing their little news segments. They could, however, get rather irritating. He heard two of them shout talking at each other about something two of their brothers had done.

“Mirror Jim is free!” One said, “Jim made sure of that!”

“Of course, Jim did. Jim could not just leave them there! Our mother, Jim, would not have liked that! We were raised to be polite!” The other said.

“Mirror Jim?” Dark repeated, blinking. The two within him reacted as well. The red and blue clashed as they glowed brighter. It couldn’t be them? The one they had left so long ago. Left with a promise that things would be ok, but it wasn’t. It wasn’t ok. Damien was screaming. Celine was thinking.

Dark shook his head, taking a breath to calm himself. Letting his shell fix itself. The colors were in check for now. “Jim.” He said, “What have your brothers found? Where is this… Mirror Jim?”

Damien was hoping it was them. Hoping they could help.

Celine was hoping it wasn’t. They had broken their promise that it would be ok. They did not want to know the anger that they would hold.

“At a place where there was a big Jim Scoop! A murder! There were demons!” One Jim said.

“Yes! Our elder Jims had found it. They recorded interactions with Demons! Our brother and his brother Jim went back there to find out more. They told us they found a Mirror Jim! The Mirror Jim told them… things.” The other Jim said.

Dark gripped the top of his cane. “What kind of things, Jim?”

Before the Jims could answer, a new voice rang out. One that made the two souls within Dark cry out. One in relief and the other in panic. “How to let me out for one thing.”

Dark whirled around, his shell cracking somewhat. It was them. Oh god they looked like they hadn’t aged a day. They looked just like they did when they were left in that mirror. Except… While Dark had an aura of darkness around him, they had one of.. Light…

“ (y/n) I-!” Dark had no time to even get a word out as They stalked right over to him and punched him hard enough to knock him to the floor.

The Jims jumped back. They had never seen Dark fall like that before.

Dark rubbed jaw as he looked up at (y/n) from his spot on the floor. No one should had been strong enough to even make him wince in pain like that. Only if they…. “Such strong light magic, (y/n).”

The glare (y/n) was giving him made Damien weep. “Stay the hell away from me, Damien. Understand? Wait. You’re not even Damien. They called you, Dark-Jim.” They shook their head with a huff, “Just. Stay away from me. I had them bring me here, so I could give you that and this warning.” They knelt down, grabbing Dark’s tie, pulling his face close to theirs. “If you do.. I will rip you apart.” And they dropped him back to the floor, turning on their heel and storming out. Two of the Jims following them.

“Mirror Jim! Wait! I, Jim, would like an interview!”

The red was overtaking Dark’s shell.

Damien wept.
